This date is supported by its website (). A brief historical webpage gives the following information. The Accademia had its origins in an informal group of scholars who jokingly called themselves the Brigata di Crusconi (Brigade of Bran), and lampooned other scholars whom they found excessively solemn. Things became more serious with the arrival of Leonardo Salviati in 1583, when they took on the goal of preserving the Florentine language of Dante. From that point on, the Accademia has been a philological society.

1583 - 1737? Accademia della Crusca The brief historical webpage gives no indication of a name change in the Academy's long history. Nor does the historical section at the official Accademia della Crusca website (). The Governing Regimes of Florence, however, indicates that in 1737 the Austrian Empire, and later the Napoleonic Empire took control of Florence. It is quite possible that from 1737 the name was altered to reflect the Imperial influences.
1783 - 1811? [suppressed] In 1783, by order of the granduca Pietro Leopoldo di Lorena, the Accademia degli Apatisti (founded 1631), the Accademia Fiorentina (founded 1540) and the Accademia della Crusca (founded 1583) were merged to form the Accademia Fiorentina Seconda, which in 1808 became the Accademia Fiorentina Terza. This latter Academy ceased to exist in 1811, at which time the Accademia della Crusca reconstituted itself.
1819? - 1829? Imp. e Reale Accademia della Crusca Its publications, and the Governing Regimes of Florence. It was probably called this before 1819, since the Austrian Empire had control of Florence as early as 1737. It is unclear what influence the regime of Leopold II of Hapsburg from 1824 - 1859 had on the name of the society.
1860? - 1946? Reale Accademia della Crusca Its publications, and the Governing Regimes of Florence.
1946? - Accademia della Crusca Its publications, and the Governing Regimes of Florence.
