1658	The founding date of 1658 is given on p.19 of T.1 of Roche (1978). According to an authority file in the Bibl. Nat. France cat., this Academy had the following names: Académie des Émulateurs d'Avignon (1658-1801); Lycée d'Agriculture, des Sciences et des Arts d'Avignon (1801); Athénée de Vaucluse (1802-1815). According to the CTHS - Sociétés Savantes database, from 1815 on, it has been called the Académie de Vaucluse. The Académie de Vaucluse website (), however, makes no reference to the existence of a precursor society prior to 1801.
