1772	According to its website (), the Académie was founded in July, 1772 and formally approved by letters patent of Louis XVI in November, 1780 as Société Littéraire, and in March 1789 was transformed, again by letters patent from the King, into the Académie Delphinale. Like other nationally funded academies, it was suppressed in 1793 by decree of the Convention. It reappeared in 1796 in a "forme modeste" and then in 1802 as the Société des Sciences et des Arts de la ville de Grenoble. Its website () goes on to say that after the Cent Jours (1815, March 20 - 1815, July 8), it once again fell into dormancy, and revived only in 1836, and took once again in 1844 its name Académie Delphinale, of which it had been deprived for a half century.
