Rit þesz Islenzka Laerdóms-Lista Felags
Because of transliteration problems, primarily with the "thorn"
character used in Icelandic (þ) and the "ae ligature"
character (æ),
there are several variants on this title.
One of the records in the Bibliot. Nat. France
cat. gives the title untransliterated (as above), noting that that it
later had the royal designation (title B), but does not indicate
when the change occurred.
Another record in the Bibliot. Nat. France
cat. gives the title transliterated as:
Rit bess Islenzka Laerdoms-Lista Felags,
with the following note:
Mémoires de la Société littéraire
Islandaise.
This record (for the set of 15 Bindini) does not indicate the later
inclusion of the royal designation.
The Bodleian Library at Oxford
(via COPAC cat.)
gives the title transliterated as:
Rit thess Islenzka Laerdoms-Lista Felags.
This record (for the set of 15 Bindini) also does not indicate the later
inclusion of the royal designation.
Other records from the COPAC cat., including a
record from Leeds Univ. cat. give the title as
Rit þess Íslenzka lærdóms-lista
félags.
A record in the GBV German Union cat.
gives the title transliterated as:
Rit dess Islenzka laerdoms lista Felags and does make it
clear that this title was for the period 1780 to 1786 only;
it does not, however, list Bindini 15 for title B.
The record in Scudder #643a gives the
title transliterated as:
Rit pèsz Islenzka Laerdöms,
citing only 1780 - 1782.
In addition,
Reuss, v.1, p.5 gives the title transliterated as
Rit besz Islenzka Laerdoms-Lista Felags.
A record in the Royal Danish Lib. cat.
gives the corporate author name in Danish as
Islandske Literatur-Selskab, and the title in Icelandic as
Rit þess Islenzka Lærdóms-lista
Félags.
Pogg., v.1, col.205 cites an article by
Stephan Björnsen in Bd. II of
Islandske Litteratur-Selskabs Skrifter, which appears to be
a Danish rendering of the title of the Icelandic journal. Since we have
been unable to determine that this journal was ever issued in a Danish
translation, its seems likely that Poggendorff has merely chosen to cite
the title in a more familiar language.

Islandske Litteratur-Selskabs Skrifter
[Pogg., v.1, col.205 cites an article by
Stephan Björnsen (1730-1798) in Bd. II;
this is not an abbreviated journal title, but rather a cryptic reference,
since it gives the title in Danish, when, in fact, the journal appears not
to have been issued in a Danish edition.]

[Reuss, v.1, p.53 cites Bindini 1;
v.1, p.5 cites Bindini 2, 3, and 5.]

[Reuss, v.8, p.467 cites Bindini 6, 7;

It is not clear whether this designation is omitted from v.15 or not.

Rit besz Islenzka Laerdoms-lista felags
[Reuss, v.1, p.5 cites Bindini 10 and 13.
NOTE: The first character in the second word is given as a "b" rather than a "thorn" (þ).]
Rit þesz Islenzka Laerdoms-lista felags
[Reuss, v.8, p.467 cites Bindini 8, 9, 10,
11, 12, 13, 14;
v.8, p.468 cites Bindini 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14;
v.8 p.469 cites Bindini 8, 12, 13.
NOTE" The "thorn" character displayed by Reuss bears some similarity to a simple "b" but with a small horizontal bar at the top, and an oblique tick mark underneath; in addition, the rounded part of the "b" is actually curved slightly differently from the regular "b" - hence we can safely assume that Reuss intends the thorn character.]
