According to an entry in the BNF Database on the Musée de Paris, we read that this Museum was founded in 1782 and ceased in 1792.

A longer note in that record reads: “Société savante, littéraire, 1782-ca 1792, émanant de la Société apollonienne dite aussi Société des neufs soeurs, loge maçonnique” This suggests that the motive force for the founding of this Museum was a Masonic Lodge, with a secular name of “Société apollonienne”

A record for the afore-mentioned Masonic Lodge indicates that the Lodge ran from 1776 to 1848.
