1797	According to the historical area of the Thüringischer Geologischer Verein website (), the Großherzogliche Societät für die gesammte Mineralogie was founded in Jena in 1797 and existed until 1885, and may be considered a predecessor to the Thüringischer Geologischer Verein (which was founded on 1925, February 14 through the merger of four geological associations, namely those of Erfurt, Gera, Jena and Saalfeld). It should be noted that the historical area of the Thüringischer Geologischer Verein website () refers to the Society with the second last word given in the modern spelling, namely gesamte. The spelling used in its publications from 1802 to 1825 uses the more traditional spelling, namely gesammte.
