1800 - 1832	A founding year of 1800 and a cessation date of 1832 are supported by the dates in the titles of the monumental history of this Society by Aleksander Kraushar (1843-1931): (1) the volume for 1800-1807 (pub. in 1900) was entitled Towarzystwo Warszawskie Przyjaciół Nauk 1800-1832 : monografia historyczna osnuta na źródłach archiwalnych and (2) the volumes for 1807-1815, 1816-1820, 1820-1824, 1824-1828, and 1828-1830 (pub. 1901-1905) were entitled Towarzystwo Królewskie Przyjaciół Nauk 1800-1832 : monografia historyczna osnuta na źródłach archiwalnych. [Biblioteka Uniwersytecka w Warszawie cat.] An entry in the Wielka Internetowe Encyklopedia Multimedialna entitled Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk, confirms that the Warszawskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciól Nauk was indeed founded in 1800 and ceased to exist in 1832; it goes on to say that the tradition of this Society was revived by the Towarzystwo Naukowe Warszawskie (1907-1952, 1981- ). It is interesting to note the following variant on the name, given at the Biblioteka Archwum PAN: Warszawskie Królewskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk.
