1801 - 1801	A founding date of 1801 is only speculation. It is the date of the sole volume of its only journal. According to Sondervorst (1981), p.156, the préfet d'Herbouville gave his support to the creation of this Society when the Genootschap ter Bevoordering van Genees- en Heel-kunde opgeregt tot Antwerpen onder de zinspreuk Occîdit qui non servat ceased its activities. The title-page as reproduced on p.156 of Sondervorst (1981) gives the full title of its only journal as Actes et mémoires de la Société d'Émulation Établie à Anvers, Département des deux Nèthes with the note "Le cinq Messidor au neuf de la République Française. Premiere Année (1801)." We have found no trace of its existence other than in the year 1801.
