1804

We find some historical information on this society in
Virdis, Raffaelle. A century of “The Society of Medicine and Natural Sciences of Parma” and three centuries of medical and scientific Academies and Journals in Parma which was published as an article on
pp.4-8, v.74, 2004 of Acta Bio Medica.
On p.6, we read that in 1804, this Society was founded by several scientists (including some from an earlier, defunct society in Parma called Accademia fisio-anatomica). The author points out that this 1804 Society was established as an initiative of the physicians, not the rulers, as was the case of the earlier society. On the same page, the author indicates that no further trace of this 1804 society was found after 1819.
On p.5, the author mentions the previous Parma society - the Accademia Fisio-anatomica (Physio-anatomic Academy), giving its founding date as 1751. On p.6, however, the author makes it clear that the 1751 society was in no way ever considered a precursor of the 1804 society.
