1827	According to its website (), this Society was founded in 1827 as the Provinciaal Friesch Genootschap ter Beoefening van Friesche Geschied-, Oudheid- en Taalkunde (Provincial Frisian Society for the Cultivation of Frisian History, Archaeology, and Linguistics); in 2002, it became the Keninklik Frysk Genoatskip foar Skiednis en Kultuer = Koninklijk Fries Genootschap voor Geschiedenis en Cultuur. According to p.195 of a book review of Briefe von R. Rask an J. H. Halbertsma that appeared on pp.195-201 of Vol. 6, No. 2 (Jun., 1930) of Language, the Society was founded on 1827, September 26. As may be seen below there were some variants on the older name before the change in 2002 to the new name.
