1829 - 1943	According to Kästner & Hahn (2002), p.176, the Society was founded on 1829, January 13 as the Medicinische Gesellschaft zu Leipzig. Kästner & Hahn (2002), p.175 indicates that in December of 1943, due to the (war-time) destruction of Leipzig, the Society ceased its activity, which until then had been unbroken since its founding in 1829. Kästner & Hahn (2002), p.175, footnote 1, goes on to refer to a last report on the sessions of the Society (1943 June 22, July 13 and November 2) that was found in the Klinische Wochenschrift 23 (1944), pp.256-257.
