Beginning September 18, 1998, the Editor has begun to remove links to websites that had become problematic.

This page is intended to document the process of removing links for websites that have become problematic, rather than simply moved to another URL.

Viola da Gamba Society (UK)

This Society (originally added 2002-10-21) had a perfectly good domain name and then abandoned it in favour of a demon.co.uk/ URL. They have been replaced in the SSP by their American counterpart, Viola da Gamba Society of America.

2004, February 27

International Federation for Information and Documentation (FID) = Fédération Internationale d'Information et de Documentation (FID)

This Federation ceased in 2001 according to IFLA.
The entry has been closed at 2001, and removed from HTML pages (except the 1880-1899 page), but it still exists in the database as a ceased society.

2003, October 6

International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science

ICSU now includes virtually no information on the IUHPS.
The entries are retained, but the links to the URL are removed, as per the new policy under the Cold Fusion implementation.
