This book provides a history and description of the collections of the
Société des Arts de Genève, which
was founded in 1776.
The book is a stunning example of the printer's art, with numerous
reproductions of engravings, etchings, drawings, lithographs, paintings,
photographs, and sketches.
The history proper occupies pp.1-110.
The description of the collections
occupies pp.111-264, and is divided into
sections devoted to paintings, precious arts (enamelled items, miniatures,
and porcelians), watercolours and drawings, prints, books, sculpture, and
medals.
There is on pp.269-293 a detailed index covering personal and
institutional names and works.
The table of contents is given on pp.295-296.
Finally, there is an enumeration of the illustrations on pp.297-303
