La Clef du cabinet des princes de l'Europe, ou Recuëil historique & politique sur les matieres du tems

The history of this publication is rather complex. Below we present translations of passages from a few catalogue records from the Bibl. Nat. France cat..

Its numbering was: Juillet 1704. Tome premier [1re livraison] [-Juillet 1773. Tome CXXXVIII [1re livraison]]
Until 1716, it was written by Claude Jordan and printed in Luxembourg by André Chevalier under the fictitious name "Jacques le Sincère," and then, from July 1716, under his own name, with an imperial privilege dated February 10, 1716.
From 1707 to 1716, Jordan published in parallel an edition of the same text in Verdun under the title Journal historique sur les matières du tems, with French royal privilege dated November 27, 1706.
During this run, it also used the names Journal de Verdun as well as Journal historique de Verdun.
Supplemented in 1713 by two retrospective volumes covering the years 1697–1704, published simultaneously in Luxembourg and Verdun under the title Supplément de la Clef ou Journal historique sur les matières du tems, contenant ce qui s'est passé en Europe d'intéressant pour l'histoire, depuis la paix de Riswick. Par le sieur C. J.
In 1717, Jordan and Chevalier parted ways; the printer (and subsequently his heirs, from May 1747 onwards) continued publishing La Clef... in Luxembourg, while Jordan brought out Suite de la Clef, ou Journal historique sur les matieres du tems in Paris.
From 1706 onwards, the title also had the sub-title: Containing also some literary news & other curious remarks.
Imprint variant(s): In Luxembourg, at the shop of André Chevalier, printer & bookseller. 1716 [–1747]. With the privilege of His Imperial and Catholic Majesty & the approval of the examining commissioner.
In 1773, the title changed to Journal historique et littéraire (Li&egrae;ge) and had the numbering: 1773, août - 1794, 1er juillet. Subsequent to 1794, the publication ceased.
