1764	According to Deike (1994), pp.75-76, this Society was founded on 1764, March 18 in Celle as a Braunschweig-Lüneburgische Landwirthschaftsgesellschaft. An interesting aspect of this Society is the occurrence of the geographical designation for Great Britain in its name from 1765 (or perhaps even its year of founding, 1764) to at least 1794. This may be explained by the fact that George III (1738-1820) was King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1760-1820, but also the Elector (Churfürst) of Hannover from 1760-1815, then King of Hannover from 1815-1820. The name changes in its publications suggest that in 1899 it appears to have become the Landwirtschaftskammer für die Provinz Hannover, that is to say, a governmental body, rather than a scholarly society. We therefore treat 1899 as the date of cessation of the Society.
