1797	A founding date of 1797 is only speculation; it is the publication date of the first volume of its only journal According to Sondervorst (1981), p.156, L. Dominique Leroy (1755-1826) was a co-founder of this Society. According to Sondervorst (1981), p.150 the Genootschap ter Bevoordering van Genees- en Heel-kunde opgeregt tot Antwerpen onder de zinspreuk Occîdit, qui non servat survived only three years. According to Sondervorst (1981), p.156, when this Society ceased its activities, the préfet d'Herbouville assisted in the founding of the Société d'Emulation d'Anvers (existed in 1801). This information suggests that the Genootschap ceased in 1800 or 1801.
