According to p.123 of Hume, the Society was founded on 1844, December 3.

According to Scudder #465, the Syro-Egyptian Society of London was merged into the Society of Biblical Archaeology. The latter society was founded in 1870 according to the entry for Birch, Samuel (1813-1885) in the Oxford Dict. Nat. Biog., and ceased to exist independently in 1919 according to the entry for Sayce, Archibald Henry (1845-1933) in the Oxford Dict. Nat. Biog.

According to p.44 of Vol. 37. (Dec., 1951), of the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology (in an article by F. Ll. Griffith entitled The Decipherment of the Hieroglyphs), the Syro-Egyptian Society existed until 1872 when it was merged into the Society of Biblical Archaeology.
